Pakistan faces extreme heat, but relief is expected as western winds and rains cool the upper regions until June 22.
A Met Department official explained, “This isn’t pre-monsoon; it’s due to western winds. Pre-monsoon rains are set to begin July 1.”
The monsoon season will span from July 15 to September 15.
Intermittent rains will affect the upper parts of the country. “Afternoons will stay warm, but evenings could see cool breezes and rain until June 22,” the official noted.
Moist air from the Arabian Sea reaches the central and upper regions, accompanied by a shallow westerly wave.
Isolated rain storms are forecast in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.
Evening storms with potential heavy falls are expected in lower Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan, and central/south Punjab. Other areas will remain hot and dry.
