Wasim Akram slams Pakistan cricket team following their 61-run defeat to India in the ICC Men’s T20 match. The former captain expressed frustration over both the team’s performance and the controversy surrounding the fixture.
Speaking candidly after the loss, Akram criticised what he described as ongoing drama in Pakistan cricket. He said the situation has gradually become a source of embarrassment rather than pride.
“Pakistan cricket now means only drama, and slowly it has become a source of laughter,” Akram remarked. He referred to earlier statements suggesting the team might boycott the match, only for them to participate and suffer a heavy defeat.

Akram questioned the handling of the situation before the match. According to him, publicly debating whether to play and then losing convincingly damaged the team’s image.
“First, ‘we won’t play the match, we definitely won’t play,’ then they go and play that same match, and after playing, they embarrass themselves in front of the whole world like this,” he said.
He added that, in his view, it would have been better to boycott the match altogether rather than face such a result.

The former fast bowler also suggested that tournament organisers reconsider placing India and Pakistan in the same group in the future. He stated that he would prefer the two rivals not to be grouped together moving forward.
India and Pakistan only meet in multi-nation tournaments at neutral venues due to longstanding political tensions. Matches between the two sides attract global attention and intense scrutiny.
