“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” witnessed weekend ticket sales decline to $17.6 million but still topped the North American box office for the fourth week.
The Disney/Marvel sequel made $46 million Friday-Sunday. The film has grossed $393.7 million domestically and $339 million internationally.
Universal’s “Violent Night” finished second with $13.3 million, “a strong opening for an action comedy,” noted Franchise Entertainment Research’s David A. Gross.
David Harbour is a grumpy, sledgehammer-wielding Santa who saves an affluent family on Christmas Eve. Gross thought the picture should do well until “Avatar: The Way of Water” on December 16.
“Strange World” was third with $4.9 million. However, HollywoodReporter.com says the $180 million film could lose $100 million.
“The Menu” was fourth with $3.6 million. Again, Ralph Fiennes plays an eccentric celebrity chef.
Fifth was Sony’s “Devotion,” a Korean War action film about two US fighter pilots.
Top 4:
“Rings” ($1.8 million)
Black Adam ($1.7M)
“Fabelmans” ($1.3M)
“Bones” ($1.2M)
