India has not yet granted visas to the Pakistan cricket team for the ICC World Cup 2023, leading to the cancellation of their preparatory trip to Dubai. Initially, the team planned to head to Dubai before departing for India. Now, they’ll directly fly to Hyderabad, India, next week. Among all participating teams, only Pakistan awaits visa approval.
PCB’s Reaction
Concerned about the situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has notified the International Cricket Council (ICC). As per agreements with the ICC, visas should’ve been issued timely. The PCB has been in touch with the Indian Consulate, but there’s been no progress. Diplomatic tensions have historically made travel between the countries challenging.
World Cup Schedule for Pakistan
Pakistan has matches lined up against multiple teams starting October 6. Their fixtures include games in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. Matches will commence either at 10 a.m. PST or 1:30 p.m. PST.
If Pakistan reaches the semi-finals, they’ll play in Kolkata. Similarly, if India qualifies and faces Pakistan, the match will be in Kolkata.
The squad includes key players like Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Rizwan. The reserves feature Mohammad Haris and Zaman Khan, among others.
