In Lahore, a video capturing three girls assaulting Yusuf, an employee at a store, became viral, sparking significant backlash on social media.
Details of the incident have now surfaced. Despite the availability of video evidence, Lahore police have suggested that no action will be taken against the girls unless a formal complaint is filed. The boy who was initially detained has been released.
Social media users expressed their dismay, questioning whether police action is contingent upon receiving a complaint despite clear evidence. They emphasized that it is the police’s responsibility to hold those responsible accountable based on the evidence presented.
Journalist Noreen Saleem Janjua identified the assailant as Iman Zahra, daughter of Muhammad Qasim, a resident of Lahore. Janjua commented, “Iman Zahra, leveraging her affluence and status, attacked Yusuf, a teenager, at the Lahore Garden Total Petrol Pump. When individuals form their principles and understanding of society at such a young age, such incidents can leave a lasting impact. Yusuf will likely remember this unjust treatment for the rest of his life.”
It was further reported that CCTV footage from the day showed the three girls collectively attacking the store employee while an older employee attempted to intervene. The girls not only assaulted Yusuf but also had him wrongfully detained by the police, although he was innocent. During the incident, they also verbally abused the elderly employee and left the store without settling their bill.
