Tear gas was deployed as clashes erupted between the Pakistani police, paramilitary forces, and supporters of Imran Khan in Islamabad. During a PTI protest on the Srinagar Highway, a tragic incident occurred where four Pakistan Rangers were fatally struck by a vehicle.
The PTI has been actively protesting since November 24, demanding the release of their leader from Adiala Jail. The confrontation led to four Rangers losing their lives and five other security personnel, including police, sustaining injuries.
Security officials reported that the ongoing unrest has resulted in 25 police casualties and over 100 injuries among law enforcement. Following these events, the Pakistan Army was promptly mobilized onto the streets of Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution, with orders to shoot on sight if necessary.

The situation intensified Monday night when a PTI rally, led by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, reached the federal capital. Labelled a ‘do-or-die’ protest, the rally saw various convoys merging with Gandapur’s at the Hakla interchange, including groups from Hazara division, DI Khan, and Balochistan.

Bushra Bibi, spouse of the jailed PTI founder and other senior PTI members, joined Gandapur in this critical mobilization.

This development followed after both the government and PTI denied any ongoing negotiations. Although it was initially reported that talks took place at the Minister’s Enclave, they were unsuccessful, with neither side reaching an agreement.

The government’s team was said to include Amir Muqam, Ayaz Sadiq, and Mohsin Naqvi, while the PTI representatives were Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, and Barrister Gohar.
