Actor Vin Diesel faces a lawsuit alleging sexual assault in 2010. The accusation comes from Asta Jonasson, a former assistant during the filming of “Fast Five.”
Jonasson details the alleged assault in her lawsuit, claiming that Diesel forcefully brought her to his suite at the St. Regis Hotel.
According to her account, Diesel overpowered her, groped her, and then masturbated in front of her. She describes an attempt to escape, which led to Diesel cornering her and forcing her into a sexual act.
Following the alleged incident, Jonasson reports being terminated by Samantha Vincent, Diesel’s sister and president of his company, citing her resistance to Diesel’s advances as the reason. The lawsuit not only accuses Diesel of sexual battery but also includes claims of gender discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and negligent supervision.
Jonasson’s statement in the lawsuit profoundly impacts her self-esteem and career aspirations. She expressed feeling discarded and helpless after the alleged assault.
As of now, Vin Diesel’s representatives have not commented on the allegations. Jonasson was able to file the lawsuit, overcoming a nondisclosure agreement she signed in 2010, thanks to the Speak Out Act. This act prohibits the enforcement of such agreements in cases of sexual assault and harassment.
Additionally, California’s AB2777 provides a temporary waiver of statutes of limitations for sexual abuse allegations from 2009 onwards, enabling Jonasson to proceed with her lawsuit.
Vin Diesel, 56, is widely recognized for his role as Dominic Toretto in the “Fast & Furious” franchise.
