Various areas of Karachi without electricity since 16 hours

Karachi: After rainfall on Tuesday evening, electricity supply of various areas of the city remained suspended for as many as sixteen hours.

According to details, Gulshan Ameer, Malir Cantt. and Race Club Colony remained without electricity supply for sixteen hours. Electricity supply was also suspended in Prem Villas, Saeed Village and Gulshan Maymar areas since sixteen hours.

Residents of the affected areas complained that electricity supply had been suspended since four p.m. Tuesday. The residents also stated that electricity supply had resumed at seven a.m. on Wednesday but the voltage was extremely low. Residents complained that the low voltage had harmed their electrical appliances.

Residents claimed that water supply had also been affected due to the power outage and their food items had been spoiled. They complained that they consumed Iftar meal on Tuesday and Sehri meal on Wednesday in darkness.

On the other hand, an K-Electric spokesperson stated that due to the rainfall, two hundred feeders had tripped which had caused the power outage. He further said that more than one hundred feeders had been restored whilre repair work was being carried out on the remaining feeders.

Karachi received its first spell of monsoon rain on Tuesday evening and night. The city is also expected to receive rain again till the next couple of days.
