On Tuesday, organizers of the Vancouver International Auto Show announced the withdrawal of Tesla from the event due to safety concerns. Protests targeting Elon Musk, driven by his connections with Trump, prompted this decision.
The New Car Dealers Association of British Columbia has decided to ban Tesla from the Vancouver Auto Show, which will lead to significant changes.
Eric Nicholl is in charge of the event. He stated, “Safety is our top priority.” Tesla had multiple opportunities to withdraw but chose not to. As a result, they were removed from the event at 1 p.m. PT. Nicholl explained, “Protests and vandalism risks have increased.” He wants attendees to focus on having fun rather than getting into trouble. The event will take place from Wednesday to Sunday.

Trouble is brewing in other locations. Las Vegas police are investigating an attack on a Tesla dealership where attackers threw Molotov cocktails and gunfire erupted. Someone spray-painted the word “Resist” at the scene. In Kansas City, someone set a Cybertruck on fire. The FBI and ATF are investigating both cases linked to a backlash against Elon Musk. Meanwhile, Vancouver is managing to avoid that chaos.

Elon Musk is closely aligned with Trump, who leads the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency. Trump’s 25% tariffs on Canada are causing significant issues. Additionally, Tesla has been removed from British Columbia’s electric vehicle rebate list. Protests have erupted at dealerships across North America, with UBC’s David Tindall stating, “Musk is a target.” This tension was evident in the drama surrounding Tesla at the Vancouver Auto Show.
