Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has introduced another round of price reductions ahead of its Ramadan relief initiative. This adjustment sees a decrease in the costs of key items, including various brands of ghee, cooking oil, tea, soap, and washing powder. Specifically, ghee and cooking oil prices have dropped by Rs4 to Rs100 per kilogram, with branded tea seeing reductions of up to Rs100.
This initiative is a precursor to USC’s comprehensive Ramadan relief package, set to commence next month, promising additional price cuts. The Ramadan package aims to provide discounts on 19 essential commodities. Sources reveal that this effort encompasses a substantial financial commitment exceeding Rs7.49 billion, slated for implementation from March 4th.
In a recent development, the cabinet, under Prime Minister Kakar’s leadership, has officially approved the decisions made during the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting, endorsing the relief measures proposed by USC.
