Several US warplanes crashed in Kuwait on Monday morning, according to the country’s defence ministry, as Iran continued a third day of strikes across the Gulf region.

A defence ministry spokesman confirmed that multiple American aircraft went down. However, all crew members survived the incident. The cause of the crashes remains under investigation.

Authorities immediately launched search-and-rescue operations. The crews were evacuated and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. Officials said their condition is stable.

The crashes occurred as Iran pressed ahead with missile and drone attacks across the Gulf. Sirens sounded over Kuwait City following the latest wave of strikes.

An AFP correspondent reported black smoke rising from the US embassy in Kuwait. The embassy issued a security alert urging the public not to approach the premises.

“There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the embassy,” the statement said. Embassy personnel are reportedly sheltering in place.

Kuwait’s interior ministry also confirmed that it intercepted an unspecified number of drones targeting the country at dawn.

The Iranian bombardment has reportedly targeted military bases as well as civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, hotels, airports and seaports.

Several US warplanes crashed Monday in Kuwait, the country’s Defence Ministry said, with all the pilots safely bailing out.

The ministry did not elaborate on what caused the crashes but it came during an intense period of Iranian fire targeting the country.

Authorities across the Gulf have reported casualties. According to official figures, five people have been killed in the region so far, including one person in Kuwait.

Earlier in the day, residents and correspondents reported loud explosions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Manama and Kuwait, highlighting the broad regional impact of the escalation.

The situation remains fluid as investigations into the aircraft crashes continue and Gulf states assess the evolving security threat.
