A US Secret Service agent assigned to President Joe Biden’s security detail was robbed at gunpoint in Tustin, California.
According to local police, the incident occurred as President Biden attended a gala fundraiser in downtown Los Angeles, reportedly raising about 30 million US dollars for his reelection campaign.
The Tustin Police Department responded to a robbery alert in a residential area at approximately 9:36 pm (0436 GMT) on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was a Secret Service agent, and his bag had been stolen under threat of a firearm. During the robbery, an officer-involved shooting took place, although the suspects managed to escape, and their injuries, if any, remain unknown.
Following the incident, police recovered some of the agent’s belongings nearby. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking a silver Infiniti FX35 or a similar model from 2004-2006 seen leaving the scene. The Tustin Police Department is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspects involved.
