The U.S. added 24 corporations and other entities to aid Russia’s military or defense industrial base and Pakistan’s nuclear operations or to an Iranian electronics company in the Export.
The Commerce Department included Latvia, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, and Switzerland due to national security and foreign policy concerns.
Latvia’s Fiber Optic Solutions makes fiber optic gyroscopes and other equipment, and Russia’s AO Kraftway Corporation PSC is one of the largest I.T. firms in Russia.
The company creates and sells I.T. solutions and hardware. Also on the list are Russian AO Scientific Research Center for Electronic Computing, LLC Fibersense, and Scientific Production Company Optolin, Milandr EK OOO, Milandr ICC JSC, Milur IS, OOO, (OOO) Microelectronic Production Complex (MPK) Milandr, Ruselectronics JSC, and Swiss-based Milur SA.
Four trading and supply businesses in Singapore were added for supplying an Iranian electronics company sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2018.
The Biden administration included 10 companies in Pakistan and UAE that offer unacceptable risks of using or diverting materials for Pakistan’s unsafeguarded nuclear activities or are involved in Pakistan’s “nuclear activities and missile proliferation-related activities.”
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February, the U.S. has used export controls and the entity list to punish firms for supporting the Russian military and to restrict foreign technology to Russia.
Before exporting to organizations on the list, U.S. suppliers must secure a difficult-to-get license.
