The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts moderate to light rainfall in Karachi from July 19 as part of the second monsoon spell.
Sardar Sarfraz, the director of the Meteorological Department (MET Office), expects certain areas of Karachi to experience rainfall starting July 19 due to this monsoon spell.
Previously, the Met Office announced that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are set to move into the upper and central regions of the country from the evening of July 12, intensifying by July 14.
From the evening/night of July 12 to July 17, rain/wind-thundershowers, occasionally accompanied by heavy falls, are forecasted for regions such as Kashmir (including Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur and Okara. These events might be interrupted by occasional gaps.
Rain/wind-thundershower is also anticipated in areas like Barkhan, Loralai, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbella, Awaran, Musakhel, D.G Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, from the evening/night of July 14 to July 16.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) predicts the possibility of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in north/northeastern Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, and Narowal. High or very high river flows in Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and its associated Nullahs — Bhimber, Aik, Deg, Palkhu, and Basanter — are also expected.
