Chicken prices have soared dramatically in a startling economic development, reaching an unprecedented Rs600 per kilogram. This significant increase has caused considerable concern among the public, prompting appeals to authorities for intervention.

Similarly, the cost of eggs has escalated sharply, now standing at Rs 400 per dozen. This price hike impacts many citizens’ affordability of these essential food items.

Concerned citizens have contacted the interim Punjab chief minister, urging effective measures to control the ‘chicken mafia’. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the situation is slightly different but still problematic, with live chicken currently priced at Rs430 per kg, a significant jump from the earlier rate of Rs330 per kg.

The issue has escalated to the extent that citizens are now calling upon the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to intervene and address the inflated prices of these basic commodities.
