Pakistan’s undisputed King of Comedy Umer Sharif celebrated his 59th birthday on Saturday.
Sharif, a multi-faceted stage and television actor, drama writer, film director, poet and producer, has been widely acclaimed both at home and abroad for his outstanding work.
Born on April 19, 1955 in Karachi, Sharif began his career as a stage performer in 1974. He rose to fame and became a household name in Pakistan during 1980s with his stage dramas including classics ‘Buddha Ghar Pe Hai’ and ‘Bakra Qistoon Pay.’
During his long illustrious career Sharif won innumerable domestic and international awards including ten Nigar Awards. Pakistan government has also honored him with Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (medal of excellence)
