Religious scholars and leaders of religio-political parties on Tuesday called for unity and a unanimous narrative to purge society of terrorism and bring peace and normalcy.
Talking to APP on the eve of unveiling ‘Pegham-e-Pakistan,’ the Ulema and Scholars also urged collective efforts by state institutions keeping within the ambit of the constitution, to cleanse society of menaces of extremism and terrorism.
“Only all political parties and the state institution can collectively steer country out of challenges like extremism and terrorism,” remarked Maulana fazlur Rehman, Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema Islam.
“This is an effective event. All religious parties and Ulema are with the state and constitution for the welfare of people. We as a party have floated various documents and consensus resolutions and declarations since 2010,” he added.
He also mentioned to gatherings of religious scholars in provincial capitals wherein the narratives to bring peace and normalcy to society were adopted. “We always stood with the state of Pakistan and negated any unconstitutional measures. We also declared war against state as unconstitutional.”
He expressed hope that state institutions would also repose confidence in religious parties, ulema and seminaries as they always have been standing with the state and struggled against anti-state conspiracies.
“Ulema and religious parties should be seen with doubts. There is need for promoting mutual confidence to thwart conspiracies against the country,” he added.
Maulana Rafi Usmani commenting on the event said, it is a historic day that after important documents like Pakistan Resolution and our 1973 Constitution, we are once again going to prepare a national narrative against terrorism.
“We see a vibrant role of ulema and religious parties in preparation of both the documents and now once again we are on board to prepare another national document,” he said.
He said ulema from all sects have been deliberating on this document for weeks and months and a decree has been prepared after deliberating on each of its word.
“We should pray and hope that Pegham-e-Pakistan would help improve present situation in the country and set a future course to lead the nation to a destination of peace and prosperity,” he added.
Maulana Riaz Hussain Najfi also spoke of the importance of this event and said, the time has come that all political and religious forces in country stand united for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.
“Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has also taught us to be united against evil forces and promote brotherhood,” he stated.
Maulana Najfi appreciated state institutions for launching operations like Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasad to eliminate terrorism from the country. “Therefore, there is dire need to forge unity in our ranks to thwart saboteur activities of miscreants and anti-state elements.” (APP)
