The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of 5,000 Hellfire missiles to Iraq to fight against ISIS and other militant groups.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency confirms on Tuesday that the deal is valued at $700 million.
Iraqi Govt. had requested the US govt. to provide 5,000 air-to-ground missiles, to enable the Iraqi military’s combat helicopters to battle tanks and other armoured vehicles. Incidentally the murderous IS has gained possession of tanks and other powerful armoured vehicles when its small numbers of terrorists routed the Iraqi army.
Smaller Hellfire shipments have already been dispatched to Iraq.
