Health authorities reported two fatalities in Karachi and Quetta on Sunday linked to the Congo virus.
The first victim was a 20-year-old pregnant Afghan woman named Gul Naz, who was transported from Kuchlak to Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital in Quetta, exhibiting symptoms of the virus. Her blood samples confirmed the infection, marking the third virus-related death in the last ten days and the fourth in the past four months. All patients had reportedly traveled to Afghanistan.
In Karachi, the Sindh health department confirmed the death of a 28-year-old meat vendor, Mohammad Adil, from Liaquatabad. He initially experienced a headache and fever on April 30, which worsened over the following days.
Adil was admitted to a private hospital, where he was tested for dengue and malaria, but the results returned negative. Finally, on May 4, his condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad, where he passed away the next day.
