At least two brothers were killed and two others injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car near Guru Mandir in Karachi on Thursday morning.
Superintendent of Police Aleena Rajpar stated the incident seems to be a case of target killing. Four suspects on two motorcycles targeted the car.
All the car occupants were brothers heading to the city court for a hearing, according to the police.
“Efforts are being made to discover the motive behind the incident,” said the police.
SP Rajpar added a 9mm pistol was used, and 18 bullet casings were recovered from the scene.
The injured were taken to a private hospital. Two brothers died during treatment, while the other two are severely injured, with one in critical condition. One brother survived the attack, according to the police.
Police collected evidence from the crime scene and suggested the gun attack might be due to enmity.
SP Rajpar of the Jamshed Quarters stated the police are trying to obtain CCTV footage of the crime scene.
She informed the media that the deceased brothers were Sajid Aurangzeb and Omair Aurangzeb. The injured are Wajid and Zubair.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has requested a report on the incident from the city’s police chief. He directed that those involved in the firing should be immediately arrested, calling the incident in the middle of the city very alarming.
