Punjab Governor Baligh ur Rehman rejected PA Speaker Sibtain Khan’s judgment ‘disposing’ of his instructions directing CM Pervaiz Elahi to seek a vote of confidence in a special assembly session.
The Punjab Governor has rejected the PA Speaker’s verdict against his instructions under Article 130(7) of the Constitution.
In the order, the Punjab Governor said the Speaker must fulfill duties honestly, to the best of his ability, and faithfully according to the Constitution, the law, and the Assembly’s regulations.
“You have also sworn to safeguard, protect, and defend the Pakistani Constitution.”
Speaker of the Punjab Assembly (PA) Sibtain Khan ruled against Governor Baligh ur Rehman’s directive hold a confidence vote in a special assembly session.
Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat reported that PA Speaker Sibtain Khan ruled against Governor Baligh ur Rehman’s directive to convene a session on December 21.
“Per the order, the Governor can’t call a session for the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence,” Raha Basharat said. As a result, the Assembly Secretariat didn’t announce a December 21 session.
