Tucker Carlson, who recently left Fox News, made his first public appearance on Wednesday, sharing a video statement in which he criticized the state of discourse on US television.
In the video, Carlson did not specifically mention his departure from Fox, where he had hosted the highest-rated cable news show in the crucial demographic on the most-watched US cable news channel. Instead, he aimed at the American media and the country’s political system.
Tucker Carlson stated, “Both political parties and their donors have agreed on what benefits them, and they work together to suppress any discussion on the subject.” He added, “The United States now seems to be a single-party state. While this is a disheartening realization, it is temporary.”
Carlson questioned, “Where can you find Americans still speaking the truth?” He acknowledged that there are a few remaining places, but not many.
Although he ended the roughly two-minute video by saying, “See you soon,” Carlson provided no hints about his plans.

Carlson’s departure from Fox occurred less than a week after Fox Corp’s parent company settled a defamation lawsuit involving him for $787.5 million.
On Wednesday, the New York Times reported that Carlson’s private messages containing “highly offensive and crude remarks” may have been a turning point for Fox executives. The Wall Street Journal reported that Carlson referred to a senior executive using an offensive term.
In the lawsuit, Dominion Voting Systems claimed that Carlson allowed discredited election fraud allegations about the voting technology company to be broadcast on his show, despite expressing skepticism about the accuracy of those allegations in some private messages.
Carlson is also involved in other legal disputes with Fox, such as a lawsuit filed by his former booking chief, Abby Grossberg, who alleges Fox pressured her testimony in the Dominion case.
Last month, Grossberg accused network attorneys of pushing her to give misleading testimony and alleged that Fox subjected her and other women to widespread sexism and misogyny. Fox fired Grossberg, stating that her legal claims were “filled with false accusations against Fox and our employees.”
