KPK Police claim to have killed a local commander of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after an encounter in Gujrat village. Unfortunately, his accomplices managed to flee the scene.

District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad told journalists earlier yesterday that policemen from the Rustam Police Station were patrolling on Daggar Road when militant commander Idadullah alias Farooq Alam along with his two accomplices opened fire on them on Thursday night.

He said Farooq Alam was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape. He added the policemen remained unhurt in the clash.

The DPO added, that the slain militant was wanted by the Mardan Police in more than 40 cases of bombing schools, CD shops and government installations as well as attacks on the police.

The police seized a Kalashnikov rifle and hand-grenades after the clash.

Following the incident, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan on the complaint of Imtiaz Khan, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Chura Police Station, registered a case against the slain militant Idadullah Alias Farooq Alam and also Bahar Ali, Saeed Wali, Saleem, Arif Alam, Sartaj, Abid and Habibul Haq under sections 353, 324, 148, 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
