Trump reacts to McIlroy’s Masters win after Rory McIlroy secured a second straight Green Jacket at Augusta National, adding another major milestone to one of golf’s most accomplished careers. McIlroy’s victory carried extra weight because it made him only the fourth player to win the Masters in consecutive years.

Donald Trump publicly congratulated McIlroy and praised his handling of pressure on one of golf’s biggest stages. The message framed McIlroy as a growing “legend” after another high-profile performance at Augusta.

McIlroy won the 2026 Masters with a final-round 71 to finish at 12-under 276, according to current reporting. The win followed a tense Sunday at Augusta, where he regained control around Amen Corner and held off a late challenge.

The result strengthened McIlroy’s place in Masters history. Public reporting says he joined Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods as the only players to win the tournament back-to-back.

How McIlroy built another Masters victory

The key moments from McIlroy’s round included a decisive stretch around Amen Corner and a strong closing effort despite late tension off the tee. It describes how he used birdies and powerful driving to seize control of the tournament before finishing the job under pressure.

Current reporting also notes that McIlroy entered the final round tied for the lead before pulling away at crucial moments. His second consecutive Masters title added to the breakthrough he achieved in 2025, when he completed the career Grand Slam by winning his first Green Jacket.

Trump’s reaction stood out because it came immediately after one of the biggest wins of the year in golf. His statement did more than congratulate McIlroy. It also underscored how closely major sporting moments can spill into wider public conversation, especially when a political figure comments on them.

For McIlroy, though, the bigger story remains the golf. Another Master’s title has pushed him further into elite territory and added a fresh chapter to an already historic Augusta legacy.
