A tragic incident unfolded in Balochistan’s Zhob district as an alleged suicide bomber struck the vehicle of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sirajul Haq during a political gathering.
The fatal attack resulted in at least one confirmed death, while four others were injured, according to a high-ranking security official who wished to remain unnamed. Miraculously, Haq was not harmed in the blast.
The party reported through a tweet that a “suicide attack” had occurred as Haq was en route to a public assembly. Although the explosion was close to Haq’s vehicle, he was unscathed and, despite the circumstances, planned to proceed with his scheduled speech. The party mentioned that seven of its members were wounded, four of whom are critical.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, expressed relief over Haq’s safety while denouncing the attack. Vowing not to let the terror sponsors succeed, he sympathized with the injured individuals, expressing gratitude for Haq and his team’s safety.
Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari condemned the bombing, extending his well-wishes to Haq. He expressed his condolences to the deceased’s families and ordered immediate medical assistance for the injured. Bhutto-Zardari has also called for an immediate probe into the attack, emphasizing the importance of bringing the responsible parties to justice.
