Toyota Motors, Japan’s leading automaker, has resumed production of three car models: the Toyota Fielder, Corolla Axio, and Yaris Cross. Irregularities in test data caused the three-month production halt.
NHK News reported that the assembly lines at two factories in northeastern Japan resumed operations two days ago.
The production suspension began in June after Toyota confessed to manipulating verification analysis data, prompting the Ministry of Transport to halt shipments and order a production stop. After ensuring the vehicles met state safety standards by late July, the Ministry lifted the suspension for the three models.
Although Toyota initially planned to restart production last Monday, a recent typhoon in Japan delayed it. Further complications arose in July when additional irregularities in test data were revealed, leading the Ministry of Transport to demand improvements in Toyota’s business practices.
