Actor Tim Robbins is heading to China with his Los Angeles theatre group to perform William Shakespeare classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Beijing and Shanghai.
The Shawshank Redemption star will direct the Actors’ Gang production at the National Center for the Performing Arts from 10 to 15 June (14) as part of Beijing’s Shakespeare festival. He will then head to Shanghai for another series of shows from 19 to 21 June (14).
Robbins, who founded the Actors’ Gang in the early 1980s and serves as the company’s artistic director, and his team will become only the second American theatre group to perform at the Beijing venue since it opened in 2007.
