Bilal Shah, the spouse of prominent TikToker Hareem Shah, has purportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances shortly after he returned to Karachi from London last week.
Hareem Shah said her husband was unjustly “abducted for unclear reasons.” Hareem, who has recently been residing in London following a legal battle with fellow TikToker Sundal Khattak, has asserted that Bilal, who arrived in Karachi just over a week ago, vanished without a trace a mere two days after he arrived from a bustling local market area in the city.
Hareem claims that the individuals responsible were plain-clothed, and the exact motive behind this alleged abduction remains unclear. She urged law enforcement agencies to intervene and locate her husband, emphasizing that Bilal has no involvement in political activism or any criminal record. She voiced her anguish, stating they are experiencing a distressing period due to this unforeseen incident.
However, Bilal’s family presents a different angle to the story, linking his disappearance with Hareem’s recent social media activities. In their version of events, Bilal is not missing but has been taken in for questioning concerning Hareem’s social media posts. Allegedly, during the interrogation, Bilal disclosed that it wasn’t Hareem alone who managed her Twitter account; she had delegated this task to another individual who had her consent to operate the account.
Legal Steps and Unfolding Developments
In response to this baffling situation, a legal petition has been lodged at the Sindh High Court (SHC) to address what is being termed an “illegal detention” orchestrated by law enforcement personnel on August 27 in the Korangi district of Karachi. Shahzadi Begum, Bilal’s mother, expressed her distress over her son’s unknown whereabouts and emphasized that her son has no connection with illicit or criminal undertakings. She is urging the court to compel the police and other relevant agencies to reveal any potential charges against Bilal and to present him before the court.
Furthermore, an official complaint has been registered in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) police station concerning the supposed “kidnapping” of Bilal Shah. The Senior Superintendent of Police, Shiraz Nazir, confirmed that FIR no 533/23 had been documented following a request from Shahzadi Begum, who recounted that her son was abducted from a street in Qayyumabad on the mentioned date, with the kidnappers also confiscating Bilal’s car.
It is vital to note that Hareem Shah, currently in the UK, has previously encountered legal troubles. She faced scrutiny from the Federal Investigation Agency after she uploaded a controversial video in which she bragged about bypassing immigration checks to transport a significant amount of foreign currency abroad. This incident led to initiating a formal case against her by the FIA.
As this intricate scenario unfolds, all eyes are on the forthcoming actions of law enforcement agencies and the court to ensure justice and clarity in this perplexing case.
