TikTok is poised to enter Japan’s e-commerce market in the coming months with the launch of TikTok Shop.
According to a Nikkei report, the social media giant will recruit sellers to offer products like sneakers and cosmetics through live streams, allowing users to shop directly on the platform while sellers earn commissions.
Known for discounted products, TikTok Shop is a key part of TikTok’s strategy to diversify revenue beyond advertising. The Japan launch follows its recent expansion into European markets, including France, Germany, and Italy, in March 2025. This move underscores TikTok’s ambition to grow its global e-commerce presence amid challenges in the US.
