The Tiger Woods DUI arrest followed a rollover crash near his home in Florida on Friday, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. Woods was driving a Range Rover on Beach Road on Jupiter Island when he tried to pass a work truck, clipped the trailer, and flipped the SUV onto its side.
Authorities said the crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. ET near 281 Beach Road, about four miles north of Woods’ home. Woods was not injured and climbed out of the vehicle on his own.
According to the officers at the scene, Woods showed signs of impairment. Sheriff John Budensiek said investigators initially suspected the driver of the Range Rover might be impaired, prompting DUI investigators to respond.
Initially, officers were not suspicious of alcohol. Woods later took a breathalyser test that returned a 0.00 result, but deputies suspected medications or drugs instead. He was described as lethargic and later arrested on DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Investigators said the pickup truck was slowing to turn into a driveway when the Range Rover approached at a high speed. The pickup driver tried to move off the narrow residential road, but the SUV clipped the back of the trailer and landed on the driver’s side.

The sheriff’s office said it did not have an exact speed estimate. However, officials noted the area has a 30 mph speed limit and said the significant damage to Woods’ vehicle suggested substantial speed. Neither Woods nor the pickup driver was injured.
Woods refused urinalysis and was later released
Woods underwent roadside tests and was taken to the Martin County Jail. He later refused a urinalysis test at the jail. Under Florida law, he was required to remain in custody for at least eight hours after arrest and was released around 11 p.m. ET.

Sheriff Budensiek said Woods would be kept safe while in custody and would not be placed in general population. He also said the incident could have been much worse if another vehicle had been coming from the opposite direction.
Before the accident, questions were already building around Woods’ playing schedule. He had recently returned to competitive golf in the TGL indoor final and had not confirmed whether he would compete in next month’s Masters.
It also notes that Woods had been recovering from a ruptured Achilles in March 2025 and lumbar disc replacement surgery in October. The latest incident now adds another layer of uncertainty over his next appearance
