The weekly inflation, assessed by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), increased 28.76% for the combined income group year-on-year ending Dec 22, due to a major jump in food and non-food costs.
According to statistics provided by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday, the year on year basis, Onions (482.30pc), chicken (67.42pc), tea Lipton (65.41pc), diesel (65.05pc), petrol (52.19pc), salt powdered (51.99pc), bananas (47.95pc), pulse moong (47.13pc), eggs (47.07pc), pulse gram (45.24pc), and mustard oil prices rose the greatest year-over-year (40.97pc).
The SPI decreased 0.11 percent week-over-week. This was mostly due to lower oil and vegetable prices.
Petrol (4.45%), diesel (3.20%), and LPG (0.23%) fell. The inflation reduction is due to lower oil prices. Tomatoes cost between Rs80 and Rs120 per kilogram, and onions cost Rs230 and Rs260.
