Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, co-chairmen of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), advised the Sindh cabinet to raise doctors’ salaries.
The Secretary of Finance told the other cabinet members what was happening. During the briefing, the secretary said that the federal and KP health ministries had raised doctors’ pay.
The provincial government’s budget will have to pay an extra Rs1.60 billion because salaries are going up.
After hearing the report, the cabinet members agreed to raise the pay of postgraduate doctors who work as ‘house job doctors.’ As a result, the pay for postgraduate doctors has been raised from Rs73,000 to Rs100,400 per month.
Doctors who work at home in Sindh will now get Rs69,000 a month instead of Rs40,000.
Before, Sindh doctors and paramedical staff stopped going to OPDs because they weren’t getting a health risk allowance.
In the wake of the Covid pandemic, the Sindh government decided to stop giving health risk allowances.
