Netflix has officially released the trailer for The Rip, the highly anticipated action film starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
The streaming platform unveiled the action-packed preview on Instagram, offering fans a first look at Affleck and Damon portraying police officers drawn into a high-stakes moral dilemma. The trailer quickly gained traction online, with viewers praising its tense atmosphere and star power.
In the film, the two characters discover a large sum of cash during a police operation. What initially appears to be a straightforward seizure soon spirals into chaos. As questions about loyalty emerge, trust between the officers begins to fracture, especially when outsiders learn about the money.
Netflix teased the plot in its caption, writing: “Seize the cash. Count it, turn it in. Seems simple right?” The platform confirmed that The Rip will premiere on January 16.
Alongside Affleck and Damon, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
Fans reacted enthusiastically across social media. One viewer commented that the cast alone made the film unmissable, calling the trailer “tense and messy in the best way.” Another described the lineup as “stacked,” while others said the trailer set the perfect tone for the new year.
In addition to starring in the project, Affleck and Damon serve as producers. The film is directed by Joe Carnahan, known for his gritty, fast-paced storytelling.
Set in Miami, The Rip centres on a group of police officers whose discovery of millions in cash triggers suspicion, internal conflict, and escalating danger. With its mix of action, suspense, and moral tension, the film is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s major releases early in the year.
