The Punjab government plans to implement a grading system in the province’s educational institutions to eliminate the competition for grades among students so that the genuine talents of children can be measured against a worldwide standard.
Higher Education Minister Raja Yassir Humayun Sarfraz stated at a meeting of the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) that the examination boards of the province are implementing a grading system to end the marks race among students.
In addition, Raja Yassir stated that the provincial administration was adhering to a complete policy for the advancement of education in the province and that many ideas for improving the performance of educational boards had been implemented.
Raja Yassir emphasized the importance of eliminating the rote system. He stated that there was no lack of potential in Pakistan, but our educational system could not evaluate student performance more accurately.
He noted that the kids’ creative ability could not be judged in the truest sense because they are in a race to obtain numbers from matric to master levels.
The minister added that the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen has also decided to use a grading system instead of marks in all of Pakistan’s educational boards to evaluate the genuine abilities of diligent students.
