Between 1949 and 1981, Giovanni Vigliotto deceived and married 105 women across 27 U.S. states and 14 other countries without divorcing them.
Giovanni Vigliotto married women across 27 U.S. states and 14 other countries using fake identities. His many wives were unaware of each other and their husband’s true identities. This earned Giovanni Vigliotto the title of the most bigamist marriage in the Guinness World Records.
Vigliotto had a modus operandi of proposing on the first date, and after marrying the woman, he would take off with their money and possessions. He would then sell these stolen items at flea markets, which also served as his hunting ground for new potential victims.
His deceptive spree ended when his last wife, Sharon Clark, took matters into her own hands and tracked him down. Vigliotto was arrested on December 28, 1981. He was subsequently charged with bigamy and fraud for marrying Clark while still marrying Patrician Ann Gardiner.
During his trial in 1983, Vigliotto claimed that his real name was Nikolai Peruskov. He provided a list of 50 aliases that he used during his fraudulent activities, as well as the names and addresses of his 105 wives.
He was found guilty and sentenced to 34 years, with a fine of $336,000. Giovanni Vigliotto spent the remaining eight years in Arizona State Prison, where he passed away in 1991 at 61 due to a brain hemorrhage.
