A tragic accident in Thatta claimed the lives of at least nine people.
The incident occurred when a truck and a van collided head-on near Chalia, Thatta, resulting in the death of nine van passengers. Eight individuals lost their lives at the scene, while one later succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The police reported that all the deceased were residents of Karachi and were on their way to a picnic at Kenjhar Lake.
The victims hailed from Qazafi Town in Karachi, with Abdullah, Tasbihullah, Noorul Wahab, and Adnan among the deceased. Their bodies were taken to Civil Hospital Makli.
Rescue sources revealed that six bodies had been handed over to their grieving families in Karachi, while the remaining three unidentified bodies were still under examination at the mortuary.
Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, and the police initiated an investigation. A friend of the deceased told the Edhi mortuary that all the victims were close friends, and Abdullah had returned from Saudi Arabia to celebrate Eidul Fitr with his family.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori expressed his condolences for the Thatta tragedy and asked Commissioner Hyderabad for a detailed report.
Additionally, Governor Tessori instructed the authorities to provide all necessary medical assistance to the accident victims.
