Team World captured the Laver Cup 2025 title with a 15-9 win over Team Europe at San Francisco’s Chase Centre. Taylor Fritz delivered the decisive blow, defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) in Sunday’s final singles match. The victory marks Team World’s second Laver Cup win, regaining the cup from Europe’s Berlin 2024 triumph.
World No. 5 Fritz fired a backhand volley winner on match point to secure the 15-9 final score. After a quick first set, Zverev fought back from a break down to force a tiebreaker. Fritz took a 3-0 lead, recovered from a mini-break, and won four of the last five points. “The energy from the team makes winning feel so much better,” Fritz said.
Fresh off his US Open title, Carlos Alcaraz kept Europe alive with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win over Francisco Cerundolo. Earlier, Alcaraz and Casper Ruud won doubles 7-6 (7/4), 6-1 against Reilly Opelka and Alex Michelsen. Despite two Sunday victories worth 6 points each, Europe couldn’t overcome Team World’s 9-3 lead from Saturday’s sweep.
