Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani along with his son Ali Haider Gilani called on Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Monday.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, during his meeting the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Yousuf Raza Gilani thanked the army chief for his dedicated efforts that made recovery of his son possible.

After the meeting, Ali Haider Gilani on Twitter, tweeted.“Just met COAS General Raheel Sharif. I told him he is the only person in Pakistan Taliban fear. Brave soldier,”

Ali Haider Gilani was recovered in by US and Afghan forces in Afghanistan on May 10 this year, three years after al-Qaeda militants abducted him from his hometown of Multan in Punjab. He made a huge return to Pakistan on May 11.

NATO confirmed Gilani was rescued in the Giyan district of Paktika province by US Special Operations Forces and Afghan commandos. Following his abduction, Gilani was first taken to the industrial town of Faisalabad after which he was moved to North Waziristan.

Former premier’s son was rescued in Afghanistan three years after Al Qaeda militants abducted him from his hometown of Multan in Pakistan. He was campaigning for a provincial seat in parliamentary elections for the Pakistan People’s Party.

He was kidnapped by militants in the outskirts of Multan on May 9, 2013, just two days before a bitterly contested national election in which he was campaigning.
