In a recent media briefing at the UN, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, Syrus Qazi, stated that the country was not shocked by Canada’s revelations regarding the Indian government’s involvement in the June killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia. Qazi, currently accompanying caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar at the 78th UNGA session in the US, asserted that India’s role in the incident didn’t come as a surprise, especially considering Pakistan’s past experiences with Indian intelligence activities, notably the 2016 arrest of Indian naval officer and RAW operative Kulbhushan Yadav for espionage and terror activities in Pakistan.
Earlier this week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled allegations of connections between Indian government agents and the murder of a Canadian citizen, describing it as an “extremely serious matter” during an emergency session in the assembly. The claims have reinforced Pakistan’s stance on India’s involvement in destabilizing activities in the region, including in the disputed territory of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
