Sydney Sweeney has expressed feeling dehumanized by public commentary on her physique despite her openness about her body.
The acclaimed “Euphoria” actress revealed in an interview that her fame has led to a disturbing disconnect with how she’s perceived on a personal level.
Sweeney conveyed a sense of vulnerability by discussing her experiences with fame and its intrusion into her personal life. The discussion, prompted by Daniel D’Addario of Variety Magazine following her stint on “Saturday Night Live,” delved into her discomfort with losing control over public discourse regarding her body.
Sweeney stated, “I see it, and I just can’t allow myself to react. It’s like I’m not allowed to be human anymore because of my profession. This disconnect where my characters belong to the public, yet somehow, that extends to me, Sydney, in a way I can’t dictate.”
Furthermore, cybercriminals have exploited Sweeney’s image to create fraudulent online personas, using her photographs to spread malware and scam links under the guise of “leaked videos.” However, the platform X, previously known as Twitter, has taken measures to counteract these abuses.
On a professional note, Sweeney discussed her role in the recently premiered “Madame Web,” featuring alongside Dakota Johnson, Adam Scott, and Emma Roberts. Despite mixed reviews, Sweeney views the project as a strategic move in her career, fostering vital connections with Sony. This role, she explained to GQ, was instrumental in advancing her career, enabling her to undertake projects like “Anyone But You” and “Barbarella.”
