From Tuesday, chicken prices soared to an unprecedented Rs780 per kg in various parts of the country.
In Gujranwala, retailers began charging prices at their discretion, significantly above the government’s stipulated rate of Rs 680 per kg.
Efforts by local administration officials and the price control magistrate to enforce these official rates proved unsuccessful.
Similarly, in Faisalabad, chicken prices have escalated far beyond public anticipation. Within just a month, following an increment of Rs25, the price reached Rs750 per kg.
