The Supreme Court of Pakistan, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa, ordered the police to bring the plaintiff to court in a case challenging the validity of the 2024 elections.
This directive was issued during a session with a three-member bench, which included Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali, reviewing Ali Khan’s petition to annul the February 8 general elections.
At the hearing’s commencement, the plaintiff’s attorney stated his client wished to withdraw the plea, leading to Justice Isa’s insistence on the petitioner’s court appearance, emphasizing the importance of the matter.
CJP Isa specifically instructed the Station House Officer (SHO) of the area where Ali Khan resides to ensure his presence in court.
The case has been postponed to February 21, pending further notice to the plaintiff through the defence ministry.
The Supreme Court received a request from a private individual, Ali Khan, to invalidate the February 8 general elections. The petition alleges significant breaches of electoral integrity and democratic principles, advocating for re-election under judiciary supervision within 30 days to guarantee fairness and transparency.
