DC Studios has released the first official trailer for Supergirl. Warner Bros. dropped the highly anticipated teaser on Thursday, December 11. The trailer introduces Milly Alcock in the lead role of Kara Zor-El. Alcock, known for House of the Dragon, portrays a grittier version of the classic heroine.
This Supergirl is described as “rough-around-the-edges.” She drinks, fights, and rejects being a mere copy of her famous cousin. “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth,” Kara declares bitterly in the footage. The trailer establishes a distinct personality separate from Superman’s idealism.
Superman’s loyal dog, Krypto, also appears in the teaser. This hints at the film’s blend of gritty action and classic superhero charm. Fans first glimpsed Alcock’s Kara in the post-credits scene of James Gunn’s Superman film. She appeared inside the iconic Fortress of Solitude.
The new trailer keeps the main villains largely hidden. However, it offers a brief, exciting look at Jason Momoa’s Lobo. The actor fully embodies DC’s infamous, intergalactic bounty hunter. This moment fulfils a long-standing fan wish to see the character on screen.
Craig Gillespie directs the film. It adapts Tom King’s acclaimed 2022 comic, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The story follows Kara on a cosmic journey across the galaxy. She travels with a young alien girl seeking justice for a great tragedy.
Supergirl is scheduled to land in theatres on June 26, 2026. The film is a cornerstone of the new DC Universe spearheaded by James Gunn. It promises to launch a bold, fresh era for the iconic superhero franchise.
