Sting, the iconic British singer-songwriter and former member of The Police has had to cancel his scheduled appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards and postpone two concerts, his production team announced.
Sting 73 will be honoured at the event at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California, this Thursday.
In a statement released on his Instagram, Sting’s team shared that on medical advice due to illness, the singer deeply regrets cancelling his appearance at the awards and postponing the STING 3.0 concerts in Phoenix, Arizona, originally set for January 24, to June 1, and in Wheatland, California, originally set for January 26, to May 28. Additionally, his performance at the 20th anniversary of Cherrytree Music Company is now rescheduled for May 29.
While Sting is expected to return to the stage by the end of this month, questions linger about the nature of his illness, given his long-standing reputation for robust health and fitness, attributed to a macrobiotic diet followed by his wife, Trudie Styler. This diet largely eschews meat, dairy, and sugar, favouring vegetables and organic grains and avoiding processed foods.
Sting also advocates for self-sufficiency. He has maintained a farm in Wiltshire, Lake House Farm, since 1991. Here, he and his family grow their own produce, keep free-range chickens, fish for trout, and harvest honey from their bees.
Given his meticulous attention to diet and health, it is unlikely that his current health emergency is related to food. The specific reason for the medical advice remains undisclosed; it is officially attributed only to “the advice of his doctor.”
