Stephen Curry marked his return from a five-game absence with a vintage performance. He scored 39 points in just 32 minutes against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yet, as remarkable as the display was, much of the post-game conversation centred on what the Golden State Warriors star was wearing on his feet rather than what he produced on the court.
Curry played in the CLOT x Adidas AE I Low, the signature shoe of Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards. The choice immediately drew attention. This came weeks after Curry parted ways with Under Armour and entered free agency in the sneaker market.
Since ending his long-standing deal, Curry has experimented with several high-profile silhouettes. These include Nike’s Kobe 6 and Sabrina Ionescu’s Sabrina 3. His latest appearance in Edwards’ Adidas collaboration has intensified speculation about a potential move to the German sportswear giant. Although, no formal agreement has been announced.
Edwards, who was sidelined during the game, took notice of Curry’s footwear choice. The moment quickly spread across social media. This fuelled debate among fans and analysts about whether the NBA’s most influential shooter is signalling a future partnership with Adidas.
At 37, Curry continues to redefine longevity at the elite level. Against Minnesota on December 12, he shot 14-of-28 from the field, drained six three-pointers, and added five rebounds and five assists. The performance marked the 94th time he has scored 35 or more points after turning 30. He surpassed Michael Jordan’s long-standing record of 93, according to official NBA data.

Despite Curry’s brilliance, the Warriors fell 127-120 in a tightly contested matchup. Minnesota’s balanced scoring, led by Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert, proved decisive. Meanwhile, Golden State struggled to compensate for the absence of Draymond Green. Jimmy Butler contributed 15 points and Quinten Post added 16. However, it was not enough to overcome the Timberwolves’ depth.
The loss leaves the Warriors at 13-13, eighth in the Western Conference. Still, Curry’s return provides optimism as Golden State looks to build momentum and climb back into the playoff picture.

Away from the hardwood, Curry’s sneaker future remains unresolved. He could align with Adidas, return to Nike, or expand the Curry Brand through an investor-backed model. Under Armour, meanwhile, has released its final Curry Christmas edition sneaker, signalling the close of a historic partnership.
As Curry continues to deliver record-setting performances, his influence extends beyond basketball. Whether on the court or in sneaker culture, his next move is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched decisions in the sport.
