The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) unveiled potential designs for new currency notes in various denominations on Thursday. The designs were selected from submissions by citizens in a national art competition.
The winning designs for each denomination are as follows:
- Rs 10 denomination: Shery Abidi
- Rs 20 denomination: Haroon Khan
- Rs 50 denomination: Syed Fawad Hussain
- Rs 100 denomination: Memoona Afzal
- Rs 500 denomination: Hadiya Hassan (1st prize), Aynee Zahra (2nd prize)
- Rs 1000 denomination: Noureen Aslam
- Rs 5000 denomination: Memoona Afzal (1st prize), Karim Muhammad (2nd prize)
The SBP expressed satisfaction with the conclusion of the art competition, acknowledging the creativity and talent of local artists and designers.
According to the central bank, these designs underwent a meticulous evaluation by a panel of distinguished experts from relevant fields.
The SBP clarified that these preliminary shortlisted designs have been sent to international designers for further refinement in collaboration with the bank.
The statement emphasized the SBP’s commitment to ensuring the new series reflects Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and progressive vision. The final designs are expected to embody this collaborative effort.
The competition’s winners will receive prize money, as previously announced, in recognition of their contributions to this significant national project.
