The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) revealed that Starlink Pakistan registration is underway.
PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeezur Rehman met with Starlink’s team at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The focus is on bringing affordable, high-speed broadband to Pakistan’s underserved regions.
“Talks zeroed in on boosting broadband access in remote areas to close the digital gap and speed up transformation,” the PTA stated. Chairman Rehman underscored the authority’s drive to spark innovation and roll out cutting-edge tech for nationwide connectivity. He confirmed Starlink’s registration with Pakistan’s satellite regulatory body, a key hurdle before the PTA can issue a service licence.
The registration of Starlink, a satellite internet constellation operated by SpaceX, in Pakistan is in process with the country’s satellite regulatory body, as per a Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) statement on Tuesday.

Starlink’s Pitch for Pakistan
SpaceX’s Starlink, known for delivering fast internet to far-flung corners worldwide, pitched its satellite solutions and their game-changing potential for Pakistan’s rural zones. Both sides tackled regulatory hurdles and seamless integration strategies. Earlier this year, Elon Musk announced Starlink’s application to launch in Pakistan, pending government approval—a process now gaining steam.
The Standing Committee on IT & Telecommunication has urged the PTA to fast-track Starlink Pakistan approval. Though Starlink eyed Pakistan in 2022, delays with the Pakistan Space Regulatory Authority stalled progress. With active registration, the PTA aims to finalize the framework and unleash Starlink’s services soon.
Starlink Pakistan could revolutionize digital access, especially in remote areas, aligning with efforts to supercharge the country’s infrastructure.
