The Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd (SSGCL) declared a 48-hour suspension of gas supplies in Sindh. This suspension affects all industries, power generation units, and CNG stations and will begin at 8 a.m. on January 27.
SSGCL attributes this suspension to a decrease in gas availability, leading to a shortage in the system. This shortage has resulted in the depletion of line packs, causing low pressure throughout the gas distribution system.
The company had initiated a similar 48-hour gas suspension in the last week of December 2023. This announcement comes as the government plans to reduce the power tariff for industrial consumers to nine cents per kWh.
