Sui Southern Gas Company Limited has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply for industrial consumers in Karachi to manage rising demand during the ongoing cold wave.
In a statement posted on social media, SSGCL confirmed it will suspend gas supply to industrial units from 8:00 AM on January 11 to 8:00 AM on January 12. The company said it took this step to maintain an uninterrupted gas supply and stable pressure for residential and commercial users, whose consumption rises sharply during colder weather.
SSGCL clarified that routine gas load management for residential and commercial consumers will continue as usual. The nightly suspension from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM will remain in effect citywide.
The utility also advised residents and commercial users facing low gas pressure to register complaints through its 24-hour helpline at 1199. It urged media outlets and the public to share accurate information to avoid confusion.
The company highlighted that misleading reports last week caused unnecessary concern among consumers. SSGCL reiterated that it has not announced any complete gas shutdown for residential customers in Karachi. It confirmed that reports circulating on social media about a two-day citywide gas suspension are false and unverified.
SSGCL stressed that only industrial consumers will face the planned 24-hour suspension, while residential supply will follow the existing night-time load management schedule.
