Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has dismissed all references against the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over corruption charges anchored in Panama Leaks, sources revealed on Monday.
Sadiq hasalso rejected the reference filed by Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid for disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on August 16 had submitted a disqualification reference against PM Nawaz to the Speaker National Assembly.
Rashid had filed the 162-page disqualification reference against the prime minister under Article 63(2) of the Constitution, which was prepared on the basis of the Panama Papers’ revelations.
With the disqualification reference, Sheikh Rashid had attached the documents of the prime minister’s nomination paper and annual statements of the prime minister for the year 2014 and 2016.
Meanwhile, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has forwarded a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the assembly.
The reference includes evidences that Khan, while declaring his assets, showed the 30-kanal land in Bani Gala as a ‘gift’. When analysed carefully, it turns out that the land was sold by Jemima Khan and Imran Khan purchased it.
The revenue record of the land also substantiates the aforementioned facts, stated Sadiq in the reference.
